Frankenstein-Mary Shelley

Synopsis

This classic horror story is about a scientist called Victor Frankenstein, who wanted to discover “the secret of a life” and after years of research, he finally manages to build a “human” by using several body parts. However, just after having brought his creation to life, he feels guilty for doing such a thing without forseeing to take care of the “monster”, so he runs away. Nevertheless, while he is away, he receives a call saying that his brother Williams has been murdered and that Justine Moritz, who is a family servant, has been executed for it. Victor believes the monster to be guilty after witnessing it at the murder scene, yet, he can not tell it to the family or to the police, as they don’t know about the monster. The Monster and the scientist meet in the Swiss mountains. The Monster tells the story of how he has survived and the time he has spent educating himself. Eventually, the Monster asks Victor to admit responsibility for his actions and show some sympathy, so he asks him to build a companion. Victor agrees. Victor finds a remote place in Orkney where he begins to build the female creature but suddenly, he realizes the consequences that what he was doing could have, so he makes it into pieces it. The monster, which was following Victor, becomes enraged and in revenge kills Victor's best friend, Henry Clerval. Victor and Isabel get married, but he finds his new wife dead at the hands of the Monster. He promises to hunt down the creature. Finally, Frankenstein dies and the Monster, still miserable, goes off, probably to his own death.

Personal Opinion

Although it is one of the most famous stories, I had never read it and the truth is that I loved it, and I really enjoyed reading it. It is very easy to read not only because it is very short but also because of its vocabulary. So, even if u dont like horror stories, I would totally recommend this book.
