Synopsis
Dorothy is a young girl who lives in a small and poor house in Kansas with her uncle Henry, her aunt Em and her dog Toto. One day, a cyclone hits and by the time Dorothy catches Toto, she is unable to reach the storm cellar. They are swept away from their home because of that tornado.Dorothy jumped down from her bed and ran to the door. When she opened it, she gave a cry of surprise. She was not looking at the gray prairie anymore. The house was in a beautiful country that was covered with green grass and tall trees. There were flowers of every color in the grass and the trees were full of delicious fruit. Birds sang and there was a little stream of clear water. She had never seen such a beautiful place before. However, Dorothy wanted to come back home again so she asked the wizard of Oz for help. He tells her she must follow a road and there, she meets many different creatures such as Scarecrow, who needs a brain, a Tin Man who needs a heart and a Lion who wants courage. After a difficult journey, they all learn to believe in themselves and eventually everybody gets what they wanted to.
Personal Opinion
Despite having a more difficult vocabulary than other books I’ve read, I really enjoyed reading this one and I have learned many new words, so I would recommend it to everyone in order to have a great time and also learn English, as reading is one of the most effective ways to understand a language.
