A foreigner in New York- Ramon Ybarra Rubio

 


SYNOPSIS
Antonio is a young Spanish who enjoys traveling around the world. He had always wanted to visit New York and now is there. Antonio and Jaison were good friends at university, so Antonio decided going to New York to visit him. In the flight, Antonio met George, so they both went to Jaisons house.
The next day was Thanksgiving, there they met Elaine. Then they went to a Thanksgiving dinner. At the dinner, Elaine promised Antonio that they would go to visit the Statue of Liberty. As they had planned, some days later, they were both visiting the statue. They also went to Ellis Island by ferry and when they returned they went to visit the Empire State Building.
Antonio spent the week exploring the city. When suddenly, one night, he got a phone call from Peter, the boy who had organized the Thanksgiving dinner. Peter invited Antonio to visit Chinatown and also Little Italy. Antonio fell in love with those places.
Some days later, Elaine called Antonio with bad news, she had to leave the following day to Chicago. Before leaving, they had a party in a hotel with some of the people from Thanksgiving.

The following days, Antonio started getting ready for his return to Spain. But, he wanted to return to New York as soon as possible, so he thought of writing an article on New York.

On the second trip to the city, Elaine was waiting for him at the airport. Those days, they saw different places around New York such as a softball match and a basketball game. In a couple of days, Antonio was back in Spain to finish his new article about New York.


PERSONAL OPINION

It is a really good book and I have enjoyed reading it. It helps you to get to know the city better and if you want to take a trip to the city, read it, you will get places to visit.
In the future, I know I will use it as a guide to visit the city.
