SYNOPSIS

Mitch McDeere was about to graduate from Harvard Law School when he was offered jobs by two law firms. He had a meeting with Bendini, Lambert & Locke law firm in Memphis, they offered him a car, a house apart from a great amount of money. Immediately he knew that was the best opportunity for him so he flew to Memphis with his wife. He pushes himself to work long hours in the hopes of becoming the youngest partner the firm has ever had. While he was working there he realised that something bad was happening there, in 15 years 5 lawyers had died. One day, while Mitch was eating lunch, an FBI agent, Wayne Tarrance, approached him and told him that the lawyers’ deaths weren’t accidental, and that he should be very careful as he was being watched and heard. Mitch was frightened, he didn't know what to do.

Then, Mitch flew to Washington for a tax conference, where he met with the head of the FBI, F. Denton Voyles, who told him that the firm is owned by the Mafia, and that no lawyer ever leaves the firm alive, so they offered him to work with them. Mitch had no other option but to help the FBI to gather evidence against the firm, in exchange for two million dollars and the release of his brother from prison. Mitch made a plan and with some people he relied on started copying files of the firm as evidence and keeping them in a safe place. However, a dirty FBI agent tells the Mafia family that Mitch was selling documents to them, so Mitch decided to run away. The FBI and the Mafia tried to find Mitch, his wife and brother, but they managed to escape. They escaped in a boat, and phoned Tarrance to tell him where the rest of the files were. Finally, 51 members of the firm were arrested and the firm was finished.

PERSONAL OPINION

I really enjoyed reading this book as it was very interesting and different from the others I have read. I like mystery books and this one was very catchy, I couldn't stop reading it as everytime something new happened. However, there were a lot of people's names so it was very confusing.
