Synopsis:
The main character, Antonio, follows a predictable behavior. This becomes evident when, after experiencing a delightful winter trip to New York, he expressed a strong desire to return to the city at the earliest opportunity. The magazine where he works was impressed by his excellent initial article on New York in winter, so he proposed to the magazine that he would write a follow-up piece on New York in summer, ensuring his return to the city that summer. Throughout the book, one attitude that could be said to have been unexpected for me is when Antonio Banderas came up to talk to Antonio, Jason and Jose Luis at a baseball game. This part surprised me since it is not common for a famous person to talk to another person in Spain. Besides that, it was surprising that the celebrity invited all of them to his show. From my point of view, this book holds significant value. It provides insights into a comprehensive range of experiences that can be a valuable resource for anyone planning a visit to New York city. While it's true that certain activities may evolve over time, I believe these changes won't be overly drastic. As a result, many of the activities and buildings detailed in the book will remain accessible for future explorers. Furthermore, the book offers valuable information on what baseball is and describes key historical moments in the United States, such as the history of Ellis Island. These insights are likely to remain pertinent throughout our lives, contributing to a richer understanding of American culture and history. Throughout the book, several passages can be observed in which a great description has been made. For instance, the author describes the Rockefeller Center in great detail: “He took me to the Rockefeller Center, a group of impressive buildings that were built in the 1930s. There’s a little bit of everything in these buildings. There are theaters, offices, nice restaurants and even the main studios for NBC, one of the national TV networks. However, during Christmas, the most special parts of the Rockefeller Center are the outdoor ice-skating rink and its enormous Christmas tree above it…” It makes me feel as if I was there with him. If I had the chance to interview the author of this reading, I would ask him whether he prefers visiting New York in winter or in summer. My answer to this question is quite clear. I would go to New York in winter. Visiting a new city is already amazing, but if it is at Christmas time, it has to be even more impressive. Despite what I would respond, I would say that the book's author prefers visiting the city in summer because there are always different activities to do.
Review:
I enjoyed reading it, and I now desire to visit New York. The way it describes the city makes you feel like you're right there. Besides that, the good relationships between people from different countries and between Antonio and Elaine kept me hooked on the book. However, a negative point of the book is that it could have been more realistic. It would have been beneficial if it included some challenging aspects or less glamorous facets of New York. Finally, I am confident that I will soon visit New York, and I hope this opportunity will materialize through a scholarship that allows me to study a degree there while I play basketball.
