SHORT STORIES by OSCAR WILDE

SYNOPSIS
LORD ARTHUR SAVILE'S CRIME 1. Arthur Savile behaves in an unexpected way when a palm reader told him that he was destined to commit a murder, because instead of ignoring him, he took it too seriously. 2. Unfortunately, the idea of classism and appareance that appeare in the story will continue to be relevant in the future, and also nowadays, for example, the Internet and social media are platforms where only appareance counts. 3. The writer describes some setting effectively, as in the following passage: "In the dimly lit drimming-room, with its heavy drapperies and glided furniture, the flickerin candelight cast dancing shadows upon intricately patterned persian rug, while the faint scent of roses lingered in the air, minglig with the soft mumurs of conversation." THE MODEL MILLIONAIRE 1. Hughie Erskine behaves in an unexpected way. He is in love with a wealthy women but he feels too poor propose to her. When he meets a beggar (that is secretly rich) Hughie gives him his last coin, this surprised me because although he was broken he tried to help the "beggar". 2. Hughie Erskine was generouse with the beggar and that idea is crucial to be continued in the future because that way society would work like a team, instead of everyone going on their own and as enemies. 3. The writer says, "It was a large room with stuccoed ciling, heavy with gilding, and agreat deal of so-called Pompeian ornamentation about it." THE YOUNG KING 1. The young Kings behaves in an unexpected way. At first he enjoys living a luxurious lifestyle without thinking about the consequences. But as the story goes on, he is conscious about his actions and at the end he renounces his crown. 2. The idea of learnig from the mistakes someone makes is important to grow as a person. That is the reason why as a society we should reflect on our actions, not only in the future byt also nowadays. 3. The writer does an effective job describing the following scene: "Outside, a garden, a large one, had not been over cultivated. The few fruits that grew on the trees had fallen into the long grass... " 4. I would ask the writer what had inspired him to write about those interesting themes. He might aswer that he was inspired by his daily life, wondering about people from different lifestyles and thinking who their lives might be.

PERSONAL OPINION
What I liked about this reading is that he criticises society with these stories. Besides that, how almost all the characters develop their personalities.
