SYNOSPIS:
In this reading we meet a character who behaves in an unexpected way. This character is Janet's co-worker, Melissa. Melissa at first seemed like a quiet girl who followed the rules, didn't lie, didn't do anything, but as we continue reading the book we can see that she is not a quiet girl. Melissa decides to invite Janet to her house to go to a friend's party. Janet thinks that it will be a calm night, but suddenly Melissa lies to her saying that they will go to a discotec with one of her friends. We have to bear in mind that they are underage, they can’t go to a discotec. Melissa says that she has a fake card where she is of a legal age. Melissa takes Janet and goes to the discotec to dances and drinks alcohol. When I read this I didn't expect this behavior from Melissa.
One of the features of this reading that will continue to be important in the future, for example, will be support. In this book Janet supports her cousin Kevin in his studies. Janet doesn't let him give up, she helps him. This behavior will continue to be important in the future, since the best thing we can do so that a person doesn’t give up is to support him or her as much as possible.
were hanging on the walls. Stevie was sitting on the floor, playing with a box of silver balls.”
If I could interview the author of this reading I would ask if Kevin passed the mathematics test and if he and his father fixed their misunderstandings. I think the response would be that Kevin passed and he and his father fixed their misunderstanding but it took a while because his father didn’t understand him in many aspects.
PERSONAL OPINION
I did not like the character of Kevin's father at all. He always treated him badly. Even if he didn't do anything, he mistreated him. He doesn't understand him, and he blames it all on Kevin's poor mother. But not everything is negative, there are things that I liked too, for example I liked the part where Kevin opens up to Janet. I felt it was very nice, because from my point of view, opening up to someone and telling them everything that happens to you is not very easy.
