Synopsis
The Heroine is one in the multiple stories that this collection of American Crime Stories offers. It is written by Patricia HighSmith and talks about a girl named Lucille, whose job is to babysit children. She is obsessed with a perfect family as well as doing something heroic that would make her stand. To achieve her goal, she sets the house that she is nursing on fire.
Personal Opinion
It wasn’t the best story of the book, but it surprisingly had me on tenterhooks. I felt very close to the protagonist, since we both are people pleasers. We want to let the people surrounding us know that we are the heroines not only of our lives, but also of the others'.
