The Pit and the Pendulum by Edgar Allan Poe

 Synopsis

The character in this reading behaves in a expected way because he does things with common sense. It is true that, as the story is set a long time ago, it was difficult for me to understand his attitude in some things and it has been in an unexpected way. But in general he behaves in an expected way. I think the main or relevant element that will be continued in the future will be the period in which the novel is set. Otherwise, it wouldn`t make sense. During the story, the book has several illustrations that perfectly describe the places and people. But if I had to choose a setting I would choose the last chapter. It is when his described perfectly the house where he was recovering. It describes the place, the sounds and above all, the objects that were there like the carpets or the paintings. If I could interview the author of this reading, I would ask him why he has so many ideas or thoughts about death. I think he would answer that it is his way of writing, that is, his style and identity. I would also ask him why he relates the ideas to illustration. It`s something I found curious during the story. In this case I don`t know what he would answer, maybe because he likes it. I didn`t like that each chapter talked about something completely different from the previous one, as it did`t give continuity to the story.

Personal Opinion

I would recommend it to someone who likes tragedy stories.
