MOTOCYCLE MYSTERY BY SANDRA SHERWOOD

SYNOPSIS

I would say, that hte one owh benaves ni an unexpected way is Janet. she has always been a very obedient a n d responsible girl, but since s h e stouts helping her Cousing with Maths classes so that she can pass the course, she starts lying ot her parents while she is at the store where Kevin works, her parents think she is at the sport center giving swimming lessons. That is why she surprised me although it's a positive the aspect that she helps his cousing. As for the story, I would say that one important idea is that the work and what he learns from his cousin will determine whether he passes the Mathematics exam and this way be able to pass the course. Also, if Hevin passes the exam the relationship between he and his father may change in a positive way. At the beginning of the reading there is a passage where the author does an effective job describing the setting. It happens when Janet and her family enter in the quiet neighbourhood where her aunt lives. The author says that the houses are big and old with lots of trees. The place where they will stay for three weeks, until Janet's house is ready, is described very briefly. Another passage where the author describes the setting is when Janet walked the short way from the station to Melissas's apartment. It says that there were many shops along the street. If I coul interviem the author I would ask If the relationship between Kevin and her father will or can change in the future if Kevin passes the Maths exam. With this, I thinkauthor response would be "yes" just because it would mean that that Kevin has changed his behaviour and that he has tried to reach his goals. Although, I think he would say that no matter how badly they get along, they are father and son, which means that despite everything, they still love each other and sooner or later thay will end up apologizing.

PERSONAL OPINION

I particularly liked reading this book because in a "creative" way it gives visibility to the importance of strong relationships and logalty betxeen friends and in this case, more amoung family which can remain relevant in various contexts and time periods.
